Jina is a Los Angeles-based artist who was born and raised in Korea, where she earned her BA in Textile & Design from Chung-Ang University. She started her career as a fashion designer at the collection brand Lie Sang Bong in Seoul and has worked in the fashion industry as both a designer and stylist for 10+ years.
Longing to fulfill her dream of becoming an artist, she searched for a way to blend her design skills and experience with her passion for the arts. Her first foray into the art world came in 2018, working as a creative director for an art gallery in Seoul, where she curated multiple exhibitions featuring emerging artists. In 2019, one of the exhibitions was featured in the online culture platform Hypebeast as 'must-see.' Now living and working in Los Angeles as an artist under the name 'Coolprettyfreak', Jina hopes to empower other women and immigrants to explore the arts.
Her work reflects her interpretation of the real and surreal, capturing life's meaningful moments. Drawing inspiration from her love of travel, she uses a wide spectrum of colors to create a warm and vibrant tone in her paintings. Additionally, she loves to capture those fleeting moments of flowers through photography and poetry.
Her fashion and art journey is all about creating her own universe, filled with the freedom of feeling, of imagination.
